Remedying Toenail Fungus at Home

So many people all over the world get to suffer from different conditions that can affect the way they perceive themselves. One of these is toenail fungus. It may seem like a minor condition that can easily be covered up, but covering it up can actually make things a lot worse.

The nails can get discolored, and would even develop some brittleness that’s pretty difficult to get rid of. At worst, the toenail becomes completely removed from the bed because the fungal infection has spread all over.

This is something which is often caused by exposing one’s feet to warm and moist environments, as well as the neglect of having to wipe their feet completely dry before putting on footwear.

Fungus ends up entering the toe nails, which then begins to cause a lot of damage to the keratin.

Considering that these fungi tend to thrive in moist and warm areas, those who constantly expose themselves to such environments can easily contract the condition.

This is most apparent when there are a lot of people walking around barefoot in spas, gyms, locker rooms and even by the poolside.

For all one knows, some other person may have already been infected with such, and can easily spread to the rest of the people around him or her. Of course, this condition can still be treated with some home made solutions.

Below are just a few examples of the treatments one can utilize in the comforts of their home.

  • tea tree oilTea tree oil is known to be quite efficient in the treatment of toe nail fungus. All that one needs to do is apply a small amount of the oil and rub it all over the toe nail that’s affected with the fungal infection using a cotton ball. This should be done twice a day in order to attain much faster eradication of the infection.
  • Apple cider vinegar can also be applied on the toe nails which have been infected by fungus. It is also pretty effective and very easy to do. One only needs to get their feet soaked in a bucket that’s filled with one part apple cider vinegar and 2 parts warm water. This should be done for around 20 minutes, after which one should wipe their feet dry.
  • One can also use a cotton ball and dip it in some lime juice. Lime juice has acidic properties which can be quite potent in eliminating bacterial presence in the toe nail. The juice itself should be rubbed using the cotton ball on the infected toe nails for around 10 minutes. Afterwards, the feet should be washed with some warm water and dried properly.

These are three effective treatments for toenail fungus that people can resort to right in their homes.

One doesn’t need to spend a ton of money on hospital treatments or the like, since these remedies can really be just as effective as their more expensive counterparts.
